5 Divine Encounters: How God’s Love Ambushes Lives
Table of Contents
When we step out onto the streets, we aren’t trying to force God to move; we are simply making ourselves available for divine encounters. God’s unconditional Agape love is always flowing, and sometimes, it absolutely ambushes people with grace.

An Incredible Divine Encounter: There’s More To The Story
Last week, Iris reported on an encounter with a lady named Melissa who received a brand new pair of stylized moccasins and was deeply impacted by their prayer time. But it didn’t end there! Read on to discover just what an amazing setup this continued to be as Pastor Lorraine tells us the rest of the story.
As Les, Tanya, and I walked into Portage Place, we experienced one of the most orchestrated divine encounters I have ever witnessed. We encountered a young woman and her son, Noah. Gaylene and the other team members introduced us. Les had a word of encouragement for her, and Iris had asked me to prophesy over her to seek the Lord for clarity and direction.
As it turned out, everything the Lord shared with me totally fit her circumstances and matched what the team had already spoken over her previously! Crazy!
Awakening to Freedom
I sensed she was being hindered by the heavy illusion of separation and asked her about it. She agreed that she felt burdened but didn’t know how to step into freedom. She was a believer in Jesus, but very young in her faith.
We shared the truth of her perfect, unbroken union with Christ. As we declared God’s unconditional love over her life, she was very quiet for a few minutes. Then, as she awakened to the reality that she was already free, the heavy mindset completely vanished! She was visibly startled by the sudden lightness and peace. Praise Jesus—He’s amazing!
Then Jesus spoke to me and said, “Ask her for her full name.” I thought that was a weird prompt, but I asked her anyway. As she told me, I knew immediately that she was one of the people who had contacted me about a month earlier via Facebook about an interest in Kingdom H2O’s Boot Camp!
The Setup of Agape Love
She had recently sent me another email about the camp. For some reason, she never got my first message. As it turned out, this beautiful woman had no money to take the camp but desperately wanted to go.
About two weeks ago, someone had contacted me out of the blue and agreed to donate money so that one of our students could attend. I knew at that moment that this donation was for Melissa! Coincidence? Nope! At that moment, every one of us knew that was God setting up one of His beautiful divine encounters.
When I introduced myself, handed her my card, and told her she was fully funded, her mouth dropped, and she began to cry. We also gave her a purse filled with little gifts that were perfect for her and her son.
As I left a short while later, Melissa was already praying for an older Aboriginal woman. As she ministered, the elderly woman began to weep in her arms as Jesus touched her heart with His powerful love working right through Melissa!

Gaylene’s Boxing Day Divine Encounters
I arrived at the mall around 3:00 p.m. While waiting for Lani to arrive, I ran into Mason. Mason is well known to me; I’ve known him for the last 18 months through his struggles with addiction and the birth of his child.
Yesterday, I was struck by how well he seemed. He had been clean for several months, was working at a restaurant, and was coping with the challenges of a sober life. We had a good, honest chat. I prayed for him and once again felt God’s immense Agape love and hope for Mason, which I declared over him.
Once Lani arrived, we walked upstairs. We noticed a couple of young men on a bench. One seemed almost catatonic, and the other was adamant against any sort of prayer or chatting. Another young man nearby was talking to himself and quite agitated. Instead of pushing, we simply rested in our union with God and blessed them from a distance.
Chris, one of our favorite security guards, approached and asked if we were okay. Lani and I were both touched by his genuine concern. A lot of people said no to prayer that day, likely because it was Boxing Day and they were intent on shopping. Lani and I decided we were mostly there to prayer walk, declaring peace over the atmosphere.
Pastor Lorraine’s Report: Words of Knowledge
Last Thursday, our team (Tanya, Les, and myself) went to Siloam Mission. We wished many a Merry Christmas, blessed them, gave out cards and gifts, and made new connections.
After our brief time at the mission, we went over to the Quest Inn to bless the staff. We met Ruby, a young mother with her 2-year-old daughter Olivia, and her mother Pam. They both welcomed our prayers. As we prayed for Ruby, who needed clear direction, the Holy Spirit began to release some very specific words of knowledge to both Les and me.
I heard the word “daycare” and asked Ruby about it. She was taking a Daycare ECE training program but had stopped, unsure of what direction to go. I saw her with a daycare in her home with many young children to care for. Les heard the word “bills.” As it turned out, Ruby had some huge bills to pay and had stopped her program because of the stress.
Wow! God read her mail! I sensed the Lord strongly encouraging her to continue with her program and that He would provide the finances to finish. She was shocked by the accuracy of the words, and she joyfully received that encouragement.
A Word for Pam
Later, we prayed for her mom, Pam. God gave us words of knowledge about her situation as well: she needed a job but didn’t know what to do. The Lord told us, “working with food” and “hospitality.”
This shocked her because it perfectly fit her love for cooking and serving people. I then heard “bannock”—but not the normal kind, bannock with raisins and icing sugar. She totally agreed that was exactly what she liked to make!
We prophesied over the two women and little Olivia. They were incredibly blessed and knew without a doubt that God was speaking to them. It is so easy to walk in these divine encounters when we realize God is never separated from us, and He is always eager to reveal His love.
