The biblical promise “As He Is So Are We” isn’t just poetic language; it is the blueprint of our reality. For the last decade, my prayer life has had a familiar rhythm. It has generally been “me and God”—a one-on-one time of intimacy, healing, and quiet connection.
But last night, something shifted. The “room” suddenly got crowded.
It wasn’t just me and the Lord anymore; I was swept into a corporate vision of being with all of humanity. But it wasn’t humanity as we usually see them—angry, fearful, or broken. I saw humanity with their masks fully off. In fact, the masks weren’t just removed; they were burned to annihilation.
1. The Death of the Mask
We all wear masks. We build personalities out of self-protection, performance, and fear. We present a “false self” to the world because we are terrified that if people saw who we really are, they wouldn’t love us.
But in this vision, the fear was completely gone. With the masks annihilated, all that remained was pure Agape love.
This was a tangible demonstration of 2 Corinthians 3:18:
“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory…”
When the “veil” (the mask) is taken away, we don’t see a monster underneath. We see the glory of the Lord reflected back. The healing I experienced recently was for my body, but this was a healing of identity.
2. As He Is So Are We (The Identity Shift)
This experience brought 1 John 4:17 out of the pages of my Bible and into my reality: “Because as He is, so are we in this world.”
I saw clearly that we are made of the exact same substance as our Father. He is Agape, so we are Agape. We are infinitely complete, just as He is. The lie of religion is that we are separate, dirty, or lacking. The truth of the Gospel is that our core nature has been restored to His image.
The Fingerprint Paradox Here is the beauty: We aren’t clones. While we share His essence, we each have a unique expression. Think of it like fingerprints—every human has fingerprints, yet no two are alike. In the vision, God wasn’t just tolerating our differences; He was celebrating them. We all carried the same Light, but it refracted through us in billions of unique ways.
3. Joy Without a Ceiling
The atmosphere in that place was pure bliss. There was absolutely no ceiling on the joy. Why? Because the heavy lifting of “maintaining a mask” was over. The striving was gone. All that was left was the celebration of being known.
When you realize that as He is so are we, you stop trying to “become” something and start resting in who you already are.
3 Steps to Drop the Mask Today
You don’t have to wait for a mystical vision to experience this. You can step into this reality right now:
- Recognize the Mask: Identify where you are performing or hiding out of fear. That is not you; that is the mask.
- Agree with the Word: Say it out loud: “As He is, so am I.” Remind yourself that your substance is Agape love, not fear.
- Celebrate the Fingerprint: Stop trying to be like someone else. God loves your unique expression of His glory.
My challenge to you today is to let the fire of God’s love burn up the fear that tells you to hide. You are already made of Agape. The ceiling is gone.
