#36 – Security Puts Temporary Kibosh on Ministry

This week I asked all team leaders to send me a brief report on their experiences this week at the mall, and the ones recorded below are the ones I received at the time of sending this report out.
Twenty four people were at Zion (4 of them new) and another 11 joined us at Portage Place for a total of 35 team members.  Several teams were formed and after a time of worship and prayer we drove over to Portage Place and formed an additional 3 teams.
The first person our team encountered was Edna whom we had prayed for last week.  She said her legs and back were still pain-free, but she was still dealing with the witchcraft that was giving her bad dreams.  We then prayed to bind the spirit of witchcraft, blessing her with peace, and reminding her how to deal with the witchcraft if it returns by claiming the freedom that is hers in the name of Jesus.
As we were deciding who to talk to next, Alyssa came to say that security was telling some team members that we needed a permit to do what we were doing.  Apparently one of the teams had approached a group of people, and one of them had been prayed for by us in the past, and she said to her group of friends, “These people will pray for us”.  One of the other friends took exception to this and started shouting very loudly that she didn’t want any prayer, and she wanted nothing to do with religion.  She was shouting, “Go away, leave me alone, stop what you are doing” (and at that point no one was doing anything).  She was so loud a security guard came to see what was happening.  The loud lady complained to him, and he told our team members that they would need a permit to hand-out religious material in the mall.  The team pointed out they weren’t handing out anything.  He then said that some of our ‘people’ were soliciting customers in stores and that we would need a permit to do that. (Apparently, some team members had done that in the past couple of weeks, but it is not something we encourage).  So he was adamant about the permit and he advised other security that our teams needed a permit, and they then positioned themselves around Center Court and were watching us.  Pastor Tom had us gather outside of the mall to talk to us.  Some of the team members stayed in the mall and prayed.  We were sure that praying for people with their permission wasn’t breaking any rules, but that it wouldn’t be wise to upset the security.  We decided to break teams down to a maximum of 3 people so they would be less conspicuous, and to be more discreet about the laying on of hands.  We decided to continue, but ‘fly under the radar’.  At least two teams went to City Place to pray for people, which is a couple of blocks away.
One of the teams that went to City Place was led by Andy.  He reported 12 people encountered, 4 people healed, and one person saved.  They approached a man named Darryl who had a sore foot with a lot of pain.  He said he didn’t want prayer for his foot, but he was interested in learning about Jesus.  After he prayed and received Jesus the pain in his foot was gone.
Lorraine with her co-leader Dove stayed in the mall, and they encountered 7 people.  Here are the details of one of their encounters in Lorraine’s words:
“Prayed for a woman (Josie) who came right up to us to ask for prayer.  She
had been in a snowmobile accident and it turned out that she was in lots of
pain (about an 8-9 level) because she had broken two ribs.  We prayed about
4-5 times and her pain gradually decreased each time until it was gone
altogether.  PTL  And I noticed she needed glasses to see and asked how bad
her eyesight was.  She said she needed them to see things at a distance and
didn’t have the greatest sight.  We prayed over her eyes about 4-5 times and
gradually as we tested her sight without her glasses, she could read all the
signs around her very clearly, including one that was quite small print that
I would have a problem seeing (go figure!). LOL  She was greatly encouraged
and blessed that she had no more pain.”
Trevor reported that he had received ‘words of knowledge’ for some people that opened-up prayer opportunities with them.
Adrian reported that his team had prayed for a person with poor eye-sight, and their sight was restored.  They also led a person to the Lord.
Gaylene’s report
“Hi Al – Last night Matt and Mike and I went out together. Matt had a discussion with the redheaded Portage Place security guard who said we were being restricted from freely praying for people in Portage Place. So we just decided to mosey on towards MTS Centre and through to the library and City Place. We met a few people on the way including Hung but it was definitely much slower. However, at City Place we encountered Leroy originally from Barbados. He was sitting in one of the seats and he looked like he was napping. After talking with him for 2 minutes I realized I’d met him before…he only has one eye which is legally blind and he believes in the “God of Moses” and that “Jesus Christ failed”. I’m not strong at arguing theology but it’s clear he’s lovable and irascible. Alyssa and Karla showed up and continued to talk to him. In the meantime, God highlighted Victor, a young man from South Africa. Initially, Victor said he was good but I was a bit persistent because I felt God was on it. He consented to pray when I said let’s just see what God has to say. And God apparently said some very accurate things to say. Victor said every word rang true.”
Pastor Tom reports:
“Hi Al just giving you a quick update of what happened last night. There definitely seemed to be a fog over Portage Place and some real warfare that we encountered but I think we broke through.
We prayed for about 8 people all together and saw a back and a knee healed.  A woman by the name of Judy was upset because her mother had passed away that day. She was so happy we prayed for her and also asked for prayer for her liver as she has cirrhosis of the liver.  She experienced the power of God.   A couple of her friends showed up and asked for prayer so we prayed for them. One of them, Nancy, received Christ into her heart.”
Kevin is on holidays in Phoenix, but that hasn’t prevented him from Ministry involvement.  A few days ago he posted a video of a young man whose very poor eye-site was healed.  Kevin comments, “The Kingdom is everywhere you are.”  Team members can check Kingdom H2O Facebook page for the video.
On Saturday night at the Zion church service, I noticed a lady I thought I recognized from the mall.  It turned out she was a friend of Lucas, the homeless, piano playing, evangelist.  She told me that after several conversations with Lucas she had decided to renew her faith, and she had come to Zion to arrange to be baptized.  I introduced her to Pastor Tom so she could make arrangements.
