#55 – Smaller Group Than Usual but Lots of ActionKingdom H2O Outreach Ministry – Thursday, June 29th, 2017 by Al Bayne
Prayer is powerful. It is the slender nerve that moves the muscles of omnipotence. Prayer has the power to change circumstances, other people, and even the course of history – Charles Spurgeon
A total of 22 people showed-up to minister this Thursday night. One of the teams went to Main Street and gave out peanut butter and jam sandwiches before arriving at Portage Place.
My grandson (Hudson, age 15) who came with me last summer was back. We ministered to a wide variety of people. One lady stated she was a Muslim, but let us pray for her in Jesus name. Another man stated he was an Orthodox Christian from Eritrea, but we assured him that was okay, and he let us pray for him. We prayed for Chris, who was very drunk, but coherent enough to ask us to pray for him. He wanted to be sober and free from alcoholism. We prayed and he was noticeably more sober, but not completely. Shortly after that we encountered a lady named Jen, and she had just lost her children to CFS. She said she had been drinking the last 5 days, and wanted to be sober and free of alcohol. We prayed for her and spent some time ministering to her. Very sad situation, and one that we run into all too frequently. The highlight would be an encounter with Rebecca. I noticed Jeremiah, (who was not on our team) approach a lady in a wheelchair. Because he was alone I thought someone should be with him so we joined him. The lady’s name was Rebecca, and she had recently had an operation where a steel rod had been placed in her upper leg. Her pain level was a 5. Jeremiah prayed and it dropped immediately to a 3. He prayed again and it dropped to a 1 or a 0 she wasn’t sure, but was very pleased that her pain was almost gone.
We had visitors, Anthony and his wife Daisy from ‘Be the Gospel’ in Dallas, Texas as well as Tomaslov and his wife Priscilla from Winnipeg who are also part of ‘Be the Gospel’.
They travel the world doing exactly what it is we are doing on Thursday nights.
Pastor Thomas’s Report:
For our outreach I went out with Mike and we went straight to Portage Place where we bought coffees at Tim Hortons to give away. I shared Jesus with Ivon the Filipino cashier who also happened to be friends with my daughter. From there we met A family that recently arrived from Iran who we shared with. Outside the mall we ministered to Sharon and Connie who had back and knee pain and arthritis. God touched them both and felt pain leave their body. We also met a man named Keith at Central Park. At first he was disinterested but as we kept sharing with him he began to open up and about how he had recently got out of jail. He let us pray for him and felt the power of God to go through him and then gave his heart to Jesus. He wanted to follow us around and was greatly impacted. We then prayed for Cindy, Irma and Wally Who had been drinking and were in need of prayer. Mike sang a song over them and they begin to weep as the power of God fell upon them. It was a wonderful evening.
Trevor’s Report:
Andy, Lani and I went to Central Park and Andy brought a sign with him that said “Need Prayer?” So he put the sign up and about two minutes later we had a woman pushing her stroller with two kids and she was wearing a forearm brace on her right arm. So Andy asked if they wanted a bottle water and she said “Yes, Thank You” and Lani stepped right in after and asked why she needed the brace. She said she had Tendinitis, I just asked for her hand and I spoke healing over her and for the tendons to be completely healed in the name of Jesus. She moved her wrist and the pain was gone, she looked dumbfounded. So then she asked if we can pray for her son who has Epilepsy, Lani and I did. Then Andy and Lani prayed for a guy with some family problems. There were many people coming my direction and I asked if they wanted water and they did. I asked if they wanted prayer for anything and they also did. At one time there were six of them. I was getting a headache and I asked the crowd if anyone had that. One lady said she did. As I made myself over to her she gave me a hug, so I spoke healing over her head and as I did that a woman named Mary came up to me asking for change, and I lost track of what happened to the lady who I was praying for, but all the pain left my head so I believe she was healed. Mary, who asked for change, also wanted prayer for her boyfriend Henry, Henry has Kidney problems which he is on dialysis for, and he has a serious burn on his right leg so he is not able to walk. I prayed for Henry’s healing and Mary asked me to keep him and herself in my prayers. So Mary is a special lady, she was just gazing into my eyes and she saw something and felt something too. I was ministering over her and asking Holy Spirit to comfort Her and give direction to her life. I also discerned that she had fear, anxiety and depression, so I spoke Joy, Love and Peace over her and she was happy and smiling with some laughter. Four other people that we prayed for asked Jesus to come into there lives. God Is Good! I Love what he does through us! People Want What We Do Have! Thank You Jesus! Be Blessed Everyone! Happy Canada Day! 😊
Lorraine’s Report:
So much need out there, both in believers and non-believers. Wow. Jesus the world so desperately needs Your love!
Last night, although there weren’t as many people that we encountered, there was lots going on. Had an extended prayer time with people before we went out on the streets, and then afterwards with the people we encountered. Initially it was Jeremiah on my team, but we ended up with Sarah, Iris and Michelle as we mixed things up a bit, depending upon the situations and/or people we encountered.
Met a Muslim woman (Fatimah) and her children outside the Dollarama. Engaged her in conversation (Iris speaks Arabic), Fatimah some limited English, and blessed her & her children. Gave them some candy from the store.
Prayed for a woman named Brittany. She had much pain in her body and had trouble seeing. Jeremiah and Iris prayed. Her pain immediately left! She was so shocked she shouted out, “No way?!!” Prayed for sight, but did not see any significant change (yet).
Met Edna. Gave her some candy & blessed her.
Sat in the Food Court, prayed for Sarah who was not feeling well. Afterwards her entire countenance shifted and her face lit up!
Ministered to Lillian & her daughter. Lillian was a bit hesitant at first, unsure about our intentions as we asked if we could pray for her. She admitted that she had a social anxiety disorder. Sensed lots of fear in her life. God released many words of knowledge and prophetic pictures for her and her daughter through Michelle. We broke off the fear. Heard the word “shame” and broke that off of her life. Iris spoke words of life about her being a woman of “honour and dignity”. Her response: “I used to be”. We spoke into that lie and exhorted her to continue to believe the truth that she really was because God saw her as that. Michelle saw a blanket coming and being wrapped around her when we prayed for safety and protection. I saw the same blanket and it had symbols or lettering along the side of it. It was a traditional native blanket. Michelle later saw the words; I think they were ‘faith, hope, love’. Michelle then saw a willow tree when speaking with Lillian’s daughter as we prayed for them both.
Met a young man and older lady sitting on the bench just inside the mall. Offered to pray for his foot which was injured. Didn’t notice any significant change. He thanked us. The woman had been drinking a fair bit and had a lot of emotional pain. She was in significant bondage and angry, but laughing at the same time. Iris engaged with her for awhile and we realized that she had no desire to be ministered to as she swore constantly while we talked about God with her and so we just loved on her.
Paul Enns’ Report: (Paul is the Missions Mobilizer in Western Canada for the Alliance Denomination and resides in Saskatoon. He joined us on the streets 3 weeks ago, and I asked him to send me his thoughts on his experience.)
Here are some of his observations:
1. It was “heaven on earth”. To see His Kingdom come both in healings and in kindness and mercy shared with people was a great encouragement to me.
2. It was very naturally supernatural. The approach I saw was not “strange or forced” but simply building bridges and then intentionally offering the power and presence of Jesus to people. I personally struggle with knowing how to bridge the gap with people on the street and it was so encouraging to walk alongside Chris and Kevin and then be invited into the process. I envy your group that goes out together modelling and learning from each other.
3. It was powerful but quiet. No shouting or loud declarations, simply talking with authority that displayed and released God’s power. It was so quiet that I had actually expected a bit more visible demonstrations of power. It was like power was being released but you could not see it being realized. It was only visible in the results. God taught me once again to simply go forward in His name, leaving the “how” to Him.
4. I was impressed with the desire, longing and commitment of the team to demonstrate the reality of the person of Jesus. I saw it not only in the prayer but in the kindness and gentleness that was modelled as people were approached and talked to.
5. I saw no religious kind of attitudes or even vocabulary – it was in the vernacular of the people.
6. Oh the experience stirred in me the longing to find a partner and begin to do something like this in Saskatoon or wherever I am travelling. I lack that kind of bold courage and I am praying that the Lord will launch me into this. I have seen many people healed in the church, but going to the streets is a new thing for me, though I see it as very biblical and the only way to bring hope and healing to broken humanity.
