#63 – It Never Gets Old

When we are ministering in the gifts of the Spirit our motives must always be to bring out the best in people.” Kris Vallotton

There were 26 of us on the streets last night, including a couple of new people.  The highlight for me was encountering Elvis of the North again.  Elvis (probably not his real name) was just leaving Portage Place.  He was intoxicated.  As he wobbled towards me I noticed he was limping very badly.  Elvis is someone I have encountered a few times.  He is a Shaman and often wears a talisman around his neck.  When a Shaman does a healing ceremony for someone they charge a fee, and that is how they make money.  He started limping a few months ago, and I offered to pray for him.  He agreed, but just as I started, some of his friends showed up and he pushed me away because he didn’t want them to see the Shaman receiving prayer.  Last night After greeting him I said your limp is worse, and he agreed it was.  I asked if he wanted prayer, and after looking around to make sure no one was watching he agreed.  After praying once he tested it out and said it was a little better.  He was a little tipsy and had trouble walking straight, but it was obvious the limp was reduced.  I offered to pray again, and he said yes, but he would show me where exactly to put my hand this time.  He took my hand and placed it on the inside of his knee, and instructed me to pray now.  I simply said, “Knee be healed in Jesus’ name, all pain go, all swelling go.”  He tested it again, and his limp was gone.  He then continued to waddle down the street, without the limp, and he invited me to join him at the Royal Hotel.  The next time I encounter him I am going to remind him who healed him and invite him to become a Shaman for Jesus.  Healing a drunk man’s knee is bizarre in some ways, but seeing someone healed never gets old.
A couple of Updates:
I was supposed to meet Jules, a First Nations man who wanted a Bible, but I didn’t see him at Portage Place.  I’ll keep watching for him.
Ed was supposed to meet the Imam of the Central Park Mosque to discuss whether or not Jesus had claimed to be God – but the Imam didn’t show up.  Ed left a message asking him to meet next week.
Lorraine’s Report:

Went to Portage Place Mall with Al and Mike.  While there I connected and encouraged some ‘friends’ of mine who had just opened a new food court business in Portage Place.  Bought a bit of their food to support their business.  These people are Hindus who came from India and it’s been a slow yearly process of continuing to engage them and bless them with the love of the Lord.  They warmly welcomed me to their new business!

I sat at one of the tables eating a bit of the Schwarma I had bought when an aboriginal woman with crutches and a limp began walking towards me.  I caught her attention and asked if she needed to sit down for a bit.  As it turned out her name was Ella and she was quite tired and welcomed the chance to rest at the table with me.  I offered her some of my food and she gratefully accepted.  As it turned out Ella was from Ste. Theresa Point and had MS as well as a multitude of other health problems.  I asked her if she had any pain in her body and as it turned out she had a headache as well as an injury with pain in her left elbow.  She could not bend her elbow and had just had it examined by a doctor earlier that day due to a fall.  I offered to pray for her pain and spoke to it a few times and both a headache and the elbow pain left her body. PTL!  After I prayed, I asked her to do something she couldn’t do before with her elbow and she bent it fully back and forth with no more pain!  She was grateful and a bit surprised.  And then she proceeded to tell me that she had an aneurysm in her brain that they couldn’t operate on as well as a heart problem.  So I prayed for an aneurysm as well as the heart and commanded healing to those two afflictions.  Not sure if they’re healed as there’s no way to tell right now.

Later, I found out that Ella had a very limited income and had walked a long way to the mall on her crutches.  I went and bought her a bunch of bus tickets as well as a sweater for her at the store.  There was a bit of a sidewalk sale in the mall and I wanted to bless her with something special.  When I came back to the table Ella was eating my food and had pulled out a personal family album of pictures she carried on her.  She began sharing with me about the details of her family.  So we sat there for about a half hour or so while she spoke of all of her kids, grandchildren, and husband who was up in Ste. Theresa Point.  She was not able to fly there due to her brain aneurysm as doctors were concerned it might burst due to the air pressure, etc.  I prayed and asked the Lord to make a way for her to go home to be with her family and be in her own house again.  Looking forward to hearing from her again and seeing what the Lord does in her life.  It turned out that Ella was a believer and this was a most delightful conversation with her!  That was my divine appointment tonight.

Kevin’s Report:

We prayed for a young lady who had very bad vision.  We prayed once and there was no change, we prayed again and she said she saw a slight change, we prayed again and when I took my hands off her eyes she looked and then spun around to hide her face.  She said “Crazy” and started running in a small circle not knowing how to respond or act.  There was no place to hide.  I stopped her.  She said everything was perfectly sharp and clear.  I got to explain to her that God loved her, just the way she was, at this very moment 🙂

Jeremiah’s Report:

This week I was with Ed, Bruce, and Andy. We started at main street handing out sandwiches and cool water bottles to the wonderful people of the street, shortly after we got there, Bruce and I prayed for migraines to leave Diana.
Another encounter was with Francis, he was complaining about the ham sandwiches we gave to him.  I told him that we might not have the best sandwiches but I have something else way better than sandwiches. He asked me what I have and I said I could pray for him. He told me he wanted courage so I prayed with him for that.
Hands down the highlight of the evening were with Eric I asked if there was anything that I could pray with him for, his friend said for his foot, sure enough, he had broken his foot and it was in a big plastic boot. I knelt down and commanded the pain to leave and as I was praying he was shaking a lot, Trevor walked up behind me and asked Eric what he felt and I heard him say it was very hot.
I love being used by God.
