#65 – Age Not a Factor in Healing Ministry

It has been said that ‘the two greatest days of your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why’. God created you with a purpose in mind (2 Corinthians 5:5).  Nicky Gumble
Twenty-one folks divided into 5 teams, ministered on the streets of Winnipeg last night.  My team consisted of Jeremiah (14) and his 14-year-old friend, Denzel (his first time out), and Hannah who just returned from a 3-month visit with her family in Italy.  We prayed for 8 people in all.  A few highlights were praying for a Christian First Nations man who had pain in his shoulders, neck, back of head, and sinuses.  As we prayed he experienced a lot of heat in the area of the back of his neck and said he felt much better.  I asked him to come back next week and let me know if he was totally healed.  Simon, another First Nations man (whom we have prayed for before) has a hand and arm that was damaged by a conveyer belt.  He said every time we pray for him his hand and arm improve.  His pain in his wrist was at 9 and tonight went down to 0, and the mobility in his fingers improved this time.  We also prayed for Denzel’s eye site, and his ability to see and read signs in the mall improved a little.
Lorraine’s Report:
The people on my team were Les, Claire, Cheyenne, Dale, and Tom.  We spent one hour at main street outside the Northern Hotel and we prayed for a number of people.  I prayed for a young woman who came up on a bike and told us that she had rheumatoid arthritis in her body. Les and I prayed with her and then asked her to do something that she couldn’t do before. She lifted up her bicycle in the air and had some pain in her arms. We prayed again and she lifted up her bike again and there was no more pain. We gave out four boxes of pizza to people on the street.  I prayed for a woman named Libby who was an alcoholic. She confessed that she drank because of her pain. She told me that her son was murdered a few years before. She drank to take away the pain and began to cry. I prayed for her and ask God to come and comfort her with his love. Later on our team went to portage Place. At portage Place we met another group in the food court. Edina asked me to come over to help them with another young man named Ryan. It seemed that Ryan was hearing voices. So we prayed with Ryan. As we were praying a security guard came along and told us it was time to leave at 9 o’clock. But he added that if we were still eating food we didn’t have to leave. Right at that time Margit showed-up with pizza for us all. So we spent the time praying with Ryan and set him free.
Inspirational thoughts on grace:
Grace throws parties for returning prodigals without saying a word about their sins. Grace pays everybody the same regardless of what time of day they began to work. Grace restores dignity to whores that everybody else wants to stone. Grace hugs the diseased leper (or AIDS patient) that nobody else wants to touch. Grace looks past a person’s behavior and sees the person for who they are in the eyes of God.
Grace is irrational to the thinker. It is unfair to the judge. Grace is foolishness to the achiever. It is a waste to the selfish. Grace is a mistake to the disciplinarian. It is shame to the religionist.
But it is a stream of water to the thirsty. It’s freedom to the imprisoned. It is life to the dead. Grace is rest to the tired. It is another chance to the failed. It is hope to the despondent. It is a way out for the lost and a way in for those who can see the Door.
Grace. It’s not a theological premise. It’s not a doctrine. It’s not a philosophy. It’s not something to be balanced with anything else. It’s not even the most important thing. It’s The One Thing – The Only Thing. It’s a Person – a Person who has held you in His heart before the first molecule existed and One who will never let you go.”  – author Steve McVey (shared on facebook by Matt McClay)
