#9 Back on the streets

I have been taking a course on healing at the Zion Church this week.  We had lessons in the morning and went out on the streets in teams of 3 or 4 every afternoon.  Every day, every team saw healing miracles – eyesight restored, hearing restored, pain removed, lame healed.  Here are a few of the miracles that I was part of praying for this week as part of the course:
Charles – pain in hip went from an 8 to a 0 (his girlfriend’s leg had been healed several weeks earlier by another team – she had encouraged him to get prayer).
Priscilla – was 95% blind in both eyes – sight was restored to 100%, she also had hearing aids in both ears! and was able to hear well without them, her leg had been damaged from bumping into things and was in a lot of pain – the pain was gone.
Sisters Alva, and Dorothy both had blurry vision in their right eyes – after prayers, their sight was restored.
Mercedes, had 8-10 back pain – after prayer pain gone.
Another young girl asked for prayer for anxiety and after prayer, she said her anxiety was gone.
Jimmy – had damaged hip and a lot of pain – after prayer pain was gone.
Christina – also hip pain 8-10 – after prayer, she felt what she described as a flame shooting through her from her shoulder all the way down her leg, and her pain was gone.
We prayed for a tough-looking young man with a broken arm (he said he had been beaten up with a baseball bat and his arm was in severe pain) after prayer his pain was completely gone.
Leona had trouble walking and had a wheelchair, she also had pain in her forearm and wore a large black brace on her arm.  She was also struggling with pain in her heart as her husband had died a couple of weeks ago after prayer she received a blessing of peace, and the pain left her arm.  ***see below for an amazing next day update on Leona. ***
Women Leaves Wheelchair and Arm Brace Behind
My grandson came on the streets/mall at Portage Place with me again this week.  The first person we encountered was Rita, who is in a wheelchair and is someone I knew 20 years ago.  She was very chatty and had lots to tell us about herself.  After a long visit, we spent time encouraging her and praying for her.  She appreciated the prayer, but we were not aware of any immediate change in her condition.  We agreed to have a coffee together at a future date.
When we left her we headed out the back door to see who was on the streets that we could pray for.  As Chris and Hudson approached a young man I noticed a lady a short distance away walking in my direction.  ***  I thought it looked like Leona who I had prayed for the day before.  But it couldn’t be, as she was walking and didn’t have a wheelchair.  I approached her and said, “Leona, is that you”?  She affirmed it was.  I then said, “Where is your wheelchair”?  She said, “I am walking without it now”.  Then I noticed her arm brace was gone, and she also told me she didn’t need it anymore.  I asked how the pain in her heart was, and she said she was doing much better.  Now, this would have been a perfect time for me to lead her to Jesus, but I was so overwhelmed by this miracle that I became tearfully emotional, and couldn’t speak.  She kept on walking and I lost track of her in the crowds.  I hope and pray to see her again.
I then joined Chris and Hudson who were praying for a skeptical young man who had painful knees.  He said he couldn’t squat without a lot of pain.  Chris and Hudson prayed, he crouched several times and was very amazed that all his pain was gone, but he told them he didn’t want to hear any religious talk, and he left.
We next encountered a former kick-boxer named DJ and his girlfriend Meagan.  She had pain in her right knee, and he had problems with his right fist.  He said he had broken it 5 times in the past 3 years, and could no longer box because of its condition. The back of his fist had a large bump on it, the flesh between his thumb and index finger was badly swollen, and he could no longer close his fingers and make a fist.  After a card trick, where a card disappears, (and silent prayer) Chris said the pain in the knee would disappear, and the damage to the hand would disappear.  Meagan immediately felt her knee and said all her pain was gone.  DJ looked at his hand and said, “Hey, what happened to the swelling, and that bump, it’s gone.”  He then closed his fist and said with astonishment that he hadn’t been able to do that for a long time.  He then tested the strength in his hand by taking our hand in his and squeezing hard.  He was amazed.  Chris tried to engage him in a conversation about who was behind the healing, but he was so shocked at his healing that he couldn’t even hear Chris.  He left without us being able to introduce him to the saviour.  We found out later that he encountered another one of our teams at the front of Portage Place and had his eye sight restored in one of his eyes (we didn’t even know about that condition).
We had a few other encounters and then moved back inside as it was after 9.  We joined other team members and began to debrief.  Hudson spotted a lady sitting on a walker that had a seat on it.  He thought it was Sandra who we had prayed for last week.  The two of us walked over, but we discovered it wasn’t Sandra, her name was Gail, and her husband was Mike.  We had a little visit, and then she asked me if I would give them $3.00 so they could get a bus home.  I said I would, but I also had something else to give her.  She said thank-you, but they only needed $3.00.  I asked about her swollen legs.  She said she had a lot of pain, and with their permission, I prayed for her.  After prayer she took several steps without her walker, and then took several more steps, going a good distance.  I asked her if she still had any pain, and she said it was all gone.  Hudson said he saw the swelling decrease.  I then gave them $10.00.  Well, you would think they had won the lottery.  They were so happy, they kept hugging each of us over and over.  I told them the healing and provision weren’t from us, but from Jesus, and that was who to thank.
Counting this Thursday I have been on the streets involved in healing prayer 12 times and I have witnessed dozens of miracles I am becoming convinced there is an accelerated movement of the Holy Spirit.  I have been told to eff-off several times, had people refuse prayer, and been told that healing s— doesn’t work.  We have been interviewed by security who wanted to know what we are doing, and we have been referred to mockingly as those ‘healing Christians’, but dozens of people have been healed.
On the streets, I keep bumping into my own theology.  I find I am more bound-up in religion than I would have thought.  Jesus moves in situations and ways that I would never have guessed, causing me to be stretched in my thinking.  I have discovered a new depth of His love as He unconditionally heals people.  At times it is tempting to invalidate this ministry, except for the miracles that keep taking place.
I will not be able to go out the next two weeks.  Next week I am on vacation in Montana, and the following week I have out of town company.
Feel free to ask me questions about this amazing ministry.
