“There are no formulas or magic prayers for healing the sick. There is only faith in God. Our faith doesn’t manufacture the healing or compel God to heal. Rather faith is the means by which we access the abundant provision of his grace.” Paul Ellis
About 20 people came out to minister. I was hoping to see Roy, the man who said he was angry with God because he had taken his loved ones from him, but I didn’t see him anywhere. Kansas, a First Nations homeless lady, many of us are familiar with, was hitting several of us up for $30 to buy prescription drugs, which she is addicted to. No one was willing to give her money, but each of us offered her prayer. She refused our prayer and left in a huff. I was torn. On one hand, if you pay for the drugs you are feeding her addiction, on the other hand without the drugs she could go into a serious withdrawal. And further who knows what crime she might commit to getting the $30. Brad and I spent some time praying a blessing of protection over her in her absence. I was upset to think about what might happen to her. I also spent some time with one of the Portage Place maintenance guys who was taking a break as he waited for the mall to close. We talked about a lot of different things, and then he mentioned he had a very sore shoulder. I offered to pray for his shoulder, but he refused. I offered again and he got up and left. I plan to try to engage him again.
Trevor’s Report:
I was on the streets earlier in the day by myself. I approached a guy with a walker who had knee pain and after prayer, he was instantly healed. I then felt led to go to McDonald’s and buy 5 cheeseburgers to hand out to people who I met. Under the bridge by Main St. and Fort Rouge bus stop I approached a group of 6 people and I gave the cheeseburgers to them and asked if any of them had pain in their bodies. One of them had a cast on his middle finger. I spoke healing over him and he felt the pain leaving almost immediately. He felt tingles and his finger was healed. He then asked about his pinky finger that he had dislocated. I prayed and it was healed as well. The guy then asked me, “Are you a heavenly healing guy?” I paused for a few seconds and said with a big smile, “Yes, I guess I am. Too funny!
I want to tell you another amazing thing that happened on Monday afternoon, I was walking to my friends’ place and I saw a guy and said “Hi”. He said, “Hi, do I know you?” I then said, “No, but you look familiar, maybe I have seen you around?” He looked at me and said, “Maybe not”. I then asked him, “Do you know that Jesus loves you?” He answered, “I don’t know that”. I then said, “You would know if you accepted Jesus into your life – would you like to?” He looked at me and said, “Yes, I would”. He repeated the sinner’s prayer after me and he was really happy in that!
On Thursday night my team was Mike, Brad and Andy, and some others tagged along as we went. In Central Park, I saw a guy wearing a bandage on his forearm and he had a little bit of pain and I put my hand right on it and commanded all pain go, he was immediately healed. I went up to a group of girls who were teenagers, like 12-16 years, they were curious about what we were doing. They asked who Jesus was, they were wearing crosses on they necks but they thought if they just wore crosses they were saved. They had never been taught that Jesus lives in us and through us, they had been taught through there church that Jesus had lived a supernatural lifestyle but that they couldn’t follow his footsteps. I had a word of knowledge for one of the girl’s back. I asked for the girl’s hand, prayed for her to be healed of back pain and she did feel something and the pain left her. The girl beside her felt Joy come on her when she took my hand. The girl who had her backed healed said, “Thank you.” She was smiling. I then went to see a drunk aboriginal couple. I just told the woman she was loved. Our team sat down with them and just loved them the way they were. We spoke life over her and listened to her story.
Lorraine’s Report:
Okay, I will try to convey the gist of what happened last night out on the streets/malls, etc. Just like last week, it was nuts! Many things going on and just like last week I’d say that most of the ‘action’ happened after 8:30 p.m., closer to 9 p.m.
I was with Les and Jackie. Here are some highlights:
Vera: I met Vera outside the north side of Portage Place. She came up to us asking to sell us her fancy wallet/purse. She said her very abusive boyfriend gave it to her. I asked her why she was selling it. She said she was angry with her boyfriend and wanted to get rid of it. At one point she admitted she had a drug problem and told us she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and had rheumatoid arthritis in her back. When we prayed most of the pain left. We shared the Lord with her. She claimed she knew Him, then suddenly she left.
Josh: Outside the front of Portage Place we met with a dark man named Josh trying to sell us some bus tickets. Les engaged him with his card tricks and then used one to share Jesus with him. We led him to the Lord outside the mall on the street.
Julianna: Jackie and I saw a young woman in the Food Court sitting quietly at a table by herself. I asked her if we could pray for her, or if she needed anything. She advised me initially that she didn’t believe in that stuff. I shared with her a few testimonies of what God had done for some people: Blind eyes, deaf ears, broken legs restored. She was intrigued, but again, she said she didn’t believe in religion. I said, “No problem God didn’t believe in religion either!” Chatted briefly and then asked again to pray. Suddenly, she changed her mind. She had back pain due to an injury, her pain was about a 4 level. We offered to pray. The pain went to a 2 and then after we prayed again, it was all gone. She was surprised and then suddenly began to share her heart with us. She was 20 yrs old, just had a birthday, but none of her friends did anything for her. No celebration. We began to pray over her and tears rolled down her face as the Lord ministered to her disappointed/sad heart. We asked if we could give her something for her birthday. She was startled. I asked her if she needed bus tickets. Yes! So off Jackie & I went to buy them. In the process, we also agreed Julianna needed more so we bought her a couple of roses, etc. with a birthday card. When we brought it back to her she was overwhelmed and thanked us. Awesome to bless someone’s socks off like that!
Lisa: Lisa was very broken and had been drinking, standing beside a building on the street. We saw that she was in need and asked to pray for her. She agreed to let us do that and mentioned that she had diabetes. We prayed for her and asked her about Jesus. While we were standing there, her young son (Jodi) came along to see what we were doing. By that time there was a crowd of people around all along the sidewalk as other team members were also there.
Jodi: We asked Jodi if he needed any prayer. He agreed. As we prayed, we could see his face had an infection or affliction on it. The Lord gave us a word of knowledge that it was eczema and he confirmed. I also sensed that it was generational (his mom and Jodi confirmed that it ran in the family). So we prayed for his affliction and broke off the generational spirit causing this, and commanded healing to come to his face. We did not immediately notice any change but began prophesying over him. He confirmed what we said was right. He was 20 yrs old with pain in his back. So we prayed again and all the pain left! He was so grateful and amazed he began to share some of his stories with us: He loved to rap and loved rap music, even making up his own. So we asked him if he wanted to share some with us. We stood on the street enjoying a mini-rap concert put on by Jodi! So cool!! So much fun to love on people like this and hear their hearts and passion for things in their lives.
We met a number of other people along the street and outside the north part of Portage Place during the evening and saw a blind eye healed and a number of other afflictions touched by God, but I honestly can’t remember everything as it was overwhelming with what the Lord was doing. I just couldn’t keep up! To coin a phrase I’ve heard before about this ministry: “It felt like popcorn – opportunities to minister ‘popping-up’ everywhere we went.
Michelle’s Report:
I was on the street and came across Sharlene. I asked if she needed prayer or if she had pain. She said, “Yes”, right away. I asked her what I could pray for her. Sharlene mentioned she had broken her leg in 7 places and had titanium pieces holding her leg in place. I saw the outline of all the screws going up and down both sides of her leg. She wanted pain relief. I prayed once and asked if her leg hurt she said the pain was gone. She was so happy and hugging me.
Diana asked me if we had any cheese pizza she was so hungry but sad because we were giving out meat pizzas. I told her I would buy one. While we waited I asked if she needed prayer. Diana said she had pain in her ankles, both knees and shoulders too. I prayed and she said she felt something. Her pain was gone and she enjoyed her pizza.
I also prayed for Lainie who had pressure in her head and small patches of hair missing on her head. I prayed and the pressure left, I am hoping her hair will come in where it was missing on her head. This was my first time to pray for someone on my own when ministering with H2O . God was so faithful.
Iris’ Report:
This beautiful lady (on the left) received her sight back last evening. So special. She was thrilled and so were we. It never gets old. Being part of and seeing God breaking into people’s lives in ways we or they can’t predict and through healing, prayer, showing love, etc to experience His nearness and love. She invited Jesus to lead her life and she felt His presence. Such a special night. (Kevin Penner in the middle, and Iris Waldner on the right, on Ellice Avenue near Portage Place.)
