#64 – Food Court Activity ‘Hot’

“If you have ever wondered why people are leaving the church – particularly young people – and searching elsewhere for spiritual power, it is because they have encountered a false powerless gospel.”  Randy Clark
There was 28 of us ministering on the streets this Thursday night.
Our team prayed for 6 people in Portage Place Food Court, and never moved more than 10 feet. From our starting spot.  People kept coming to us.  I was with Jeremiah so our joint report is below.
Jeremiah’s Report: (with notes from Al)
Street ministry was awesome, I was with Al and Audrey this week.
– Jules was blessed with a Bible and some food from Al (Jules was the first person we encountered as we entered the mall.  He is the one who asked for a Bible 2 weeks ago.)
– Sarah, (Jules‘ 2nd cousin joined us at the food court) also got a meal from Audrey, she wanted to be reunited with her 12-year-old Daughter who was staying with another family in Cross Lake, so we prayed for that.  (We noticed she had trouble swallowing, and she told us her throats was raw from drinking too much whiskey over the years).  She said her throat hurt so we prayed and her throat was instantly healed!! But it seemed like she didn’t even care because she was to distracted about being with her daughter.  (A little later we noticed she started swallowing hard again, as though she had lost her healing, and she was so distraught about her daughter she wouldn’t let us pray for her throat again).
– Lorraine’s knee was broken and she was in a wheelchair I prayed and after I prayed I asked her to check it, she said, ” look” and she bent the knee that was broken up and down!! Awesome!
– Ron, a regular who is in a wheelchair was given a spicy mama burger and a root beer from a&w. (He didn’t want any prayer).
– Jen got Al to buy Charlie some food and later received prayer for her school (when I asked her what I could pray with her for all she said was school).  (Jen had approached us, by saying, There is an elder behind you who is hungry”.  His name was Charlie and he was 92 years old when Jen saw us praying for him, she said, “I want to pray too”).  Charlie was given some food from Al and we prayed for his eyes to be healed but he didn’t get his healing (yet!).
– Randal was the last (but most definitely not least) person we prayed for before we went home,  (Randal was sitting opposite Charlie and Jen, but in between them.  When Randal got up to leave we noticed he had a limp and used a cane.  I asked him why he needed the cane and if he wanted prayer.  He said his knee had bad arthritis, and he agreed to prayer).  Al and Audrey, Sarah, Les and Bruce and I were Just some of the people who joined in prayer, we prayed for arthritis to leave his knees.  (He tested his knee and said it was much better – later as we watched him leave he walked without the aid of the cane.   After testing his leg Sarah, who had a word from the Lord, said, “Isn’t there something else you need prayer for?”  He added he also needed prayer for his kidneys.  As we prayed for him, I asked him what he was experiencing.  He responded, “Heat, lots of heat”.  I asked, “In the area of your kidneys”?  He said, “Everywhere”.  We assured him that was evidence of God healing him.)  Les prayed for an increased anointing to come on him and he continued to experience a lot of heat.  After awhile of praying he said thank you and walked away. (Probably got freaked out and left) God is good!!!

Lorraine’s Report:

Earlier in the evening, about 6 p.m. I was at Santa Lucia’s restaurant with a friend of mine.  After the meal, our waitress came over with the bill and as she stood there I sensed to ask her if she had any pain in her body.  She did!  I then asked her where the pain was and how bad it was.  She said it was about a 6.  I asked if I could pray for that pain, that God was going to heal her.  We prayed and after a few short commanding prayers, for the pain to go now, her knee area where there had been pain was completely healed!

Our street team consisted of 4 people tonight and we met a number of individuals to pray for, minister God’s love to, and share the message of the Gospel with.  I had Bruce, Percy, Ida and myself.

Our team firstly went to Main Street to pray for people.  We saw a bunch of small groups and offered to pray for a few people.  Some were not interested in our prayers for them.  We prayed for a man name Baptiste who was baptized as an infant initially and almost died, but who also had a faith in God and understood what we were doing.  We offered to pray for Baptiste and he was encouraged that we’d ask.  Invited him to attend H2O on Saturdays.

Prayed for Marty who had been walking with crutches.  He had soreness on his left knee.   Some pain left.

Douglas:  Prayed for him.  He had a sandwich in his back pocket with a bottle of water. Suddenly, while we were speaking with him he took his water and poured it all over his own head!  Never seen ‘self-baptism’ before! LOL  That was an unusual encounter.

Justin:  He was alone at the back of the mall, afraid and uncertain.  He had just come down from the reserve because of some incident up there that seemed serious, though he wouldn’t share the details.  We prayed for him and spoke to his fears and invited him to H2O on Saturday.

Richard:  Our teams prayed for a man with enlarged legs and feet.  He had pain that was about a 5/6 and while we prayed for him his pain went down to a 3 or 4 so we knew God was working and healing his body.  We encouraged him to come to our Saturday night gatherings so we could pray more for him.

 Iris’s Report:

Went with Ed, Sarah and Gilles.  We started out handing out sandwiches and water on main street. It was quite quiet, and we prayed for a few people there. Ed had an appointment with the Imam at the mosque at 8, so we headed to Central park, and our group split off. After a bit, Ed came back and reported that the imam had gotten sick that day and was in the hospital.
My highlights were chatting with my muslim friend Jasmine. I haven’t seen her for a few months, and we were both happy to see each other. I also saw a somali lady sitting by herself, and went over to say hi. She had lived with her family in a refugee camp in Kenya for 23 years, and had been sponsored by her sister to come to Canada a year ago. She was doing well, and missed her family deeply. Great to grow in connection and love on these two ladies.

Gilles was talking to a man who was intoxicated when the man asked him if he was a Christian, Gilles replied yes and the man asked how do you become a Christian. Gilles explained and asked him if he would like to accept Jesus. He said yes and Gilles led him in a prayer of salvation.
