#88 – Healing Extends Beyond Thursday Nights

“Feed your faith and your doubts will starve to death” – Nicky Gumble

It was difficult to count people this week, as some showed-up at malls or the hospital to join teams.  Twenty-four started at Zion, and about 6 others joined different teams.  Because security at Portage Place was telling team members last week that they weren’t allowed to pray in the mall, we decided that those that went to PP Mall needed to get more strategic.  We suggested that team members not congregate in Center Court as we sometimes do, that teams not be larger than 3 people, and when praying don’t have a posture of prayer (ie: pray with eyes open, and don’t lay hands on people – just look like your visiting).  We also recommended that team members walk around with a coffee or drink they purchased in the Mall, as well as buy something in the mall, and carry it in one of the retailers plastic bags so that it is obvious you are a shopper (Dollar store is an inexpensive way of doing this).  Teams also fanned-out of the food court and onto the other floors, and skywalks.  We had no security issues that I am aware of.  I sat at a table in the food court, with a good view of Center Court, as I wanted to observe security.  Misty was also at the table and she was giving away snacks that she had brought, and that attracted people that she prayed for.  I asked the Lord to bring people to me, and He did.  One legged Ron stopped by, as did, Simon, Joseph, and Sharon.  Sharon asked me if I was one of those praying Christians, and I answered yes.  She said, “Good”, because she needed to talk to me.  She is very talkative and had a long story about how her son, Lindsay, had been knifed and almost died.  She had some theoretical questions about life, and as it was already 9 we agreed to meet next week.  I perceived she is suffering from trauma as a result of her son’s incident, and I hope to pray that off of her next week.
We also had teams at Garden City Shopping Center, St. Vital Shopping Center, The Forks, Main Street, Health Sciences, and Siloam.  The team at Siloam gave out roses to all the ladies – I’m told some cried when they received their rose.  Thanks, Ed for thinking of doing this.
My highlight has to do with praying for a Pastor about 10 days ago (not on a Thursday night).  He had suddenly developed Bells-Palsy, which affects the muscles in a person’s face, and he could only speak clearly by pushing his fingers against his left cheek and lips, and then speak out of the right side of his mouth (not a good situation for a person who is required to speak).  His doctor told him that he could expect it to get worse.  His son contacted Claire, Lorraine, and I and we went to his home and prayed for him, and his family and a couple of friends joined us.  That night his face clearly became more normal, and he could speak clearly without the aid of his hand.  This recent Sunday he preached, and I am told his words were totally clear, and his face was healed.  Such a privilege to be part of that miracle.
Lorraine’s Report:

Our team was made up of mostly Gaylene & myself.  We also had a few others, but they broke off into their own groups when we arrived at Portage Place Mall.  I walked to the Dollar Store and purchased some Easter chocolates to give away as well as a few other items.  Gaylene engaged a man named Mason who was also a drug dealer and an addict himself while I was inside the store buying some candies to give away to people.  Mason appeared to be very grateful for prayer although he was quite concerned and seemed rather paranoid of police [Given the fact that he was a drug dealer this paranoia makes sense!]

After this, a larger group met with us outside the Women’s Health Clinic, [which is really an abortion clinic for women in the skywalk outside Portage Place.]  We prayed there as a group for about 15 minutes or so.  Later, we met Sandra, an older woman from Oxford House who was noticeably in pain in her abdomen and had been drinking.  We prayed with her for a bit and her pain seemed to subside but did not disappear entirely.  We asked if she knew Jesus and she acknowledged that she did.  We asked various people if we could pray for them, but were turned down.  Later, we ministered to a man named Thomas, an addict who was struggling and obviously high.  We gave him some snacks, prayed for and blessed him.  He seemed grateful.  Gaylene & I made our way along the skywalk towards the convention centre and on the way, we met a man named Kevin.  We asked if we could pray for him.  He seemed distressed about something, but we were not sure what he needed prayer for as he was reluctant to tell us what he was struggling with.  I heard the word, “I’ve got this” and reassured him that God sees the trouble he’s in and He’s got this or will take care of it.  At the end of the evening, Gaylene left for home and I prayed with a woman who had asked me how to become a Christian.  As I was standing there in the mall she actually told me that she wanted to be saved and asked me to show her what to do.  So I led her (Vicky), to the Lord and gave her a follow-up card for the church. I also encouraged her to read the Gospel of John and to connect with some believers at The Wave Church in Wpg as it was close by.  It turns out that Vicky was an alcoholic and although she had been drinking she understood the message of salvation and had decided to make a sincere decision.  Praise the Lord for this divine appointment!!

Pastor Thomas’ Report:

For our Thursday outreach, I was with Dove and Michael. Before going out we went to a house to pray and prophesy over one of our young people, Rhythm, at Zion who is taking a ministry leadership role of an outreach ministry based in Calgary called Street Invaders.  From there we went to the Health
Sciences Centre where we were joined by Lani.  We started out going to the 5th floor to pray for Darlene.  Lani had a word of knowledge of pain in the right hip and leg.  We asked her how the pain level was out of 10 and she responded that it was 8 out of 10.  We prayed once and it dropped to a 4 and then one more time which completed the healing.  This woman Darlene had been there for over a year in a wheelchair and was lonely.  We could see her spirits pick up after our prayer time and Michael sang a hymn over her declaring the power of the blood of Jesus to cleanse and heal.  We then went
across the hall to pray for Edward, a man who I had led to the Lord last week along with his wife and grandson.  Last week Edward had looked like death warmed over because of stomach and breathing problems. When we saw him he had no more tubes in his face and could talk freely. He shared that after last week’s prayer he felt so much better and was hoping for a release in a couple of weeks.  Dove began praying for Mae who was in the next bed beside Edward.  She was very open for prayer and grateful for having prayed with her.

We then went up to pray for Chasse, the young man who had been shot back in early December and is making a miraculous recovery.  All the tubes in his mouth and face were gone, he was talking freely and getting around with a walker.  What an amazing testimony.  Chasse is hoping to get out of the hospital very soon.  We then went down to the main level where we met up with a young man named Jesse who looked like he had back pain.  I asked if we could pray for his back pain which was an 8 out of 10.  After prayer, it disappeared and he opened up that he was a Christian but in and out of the Psych Ward.  We then prayed over his mind and soul for complete healing and restoration.  He was so appreciative and hugged us before he left.  He looked transformed.

Jeremiah’s Report:

One word, SURPRISE! at least that’s what it feels like ministering on the streets, and here’s why – you never now what you’re going to get. You might just be praying for people around the mall, minding your own business, when all of a sudden people are getting healed of pains, diseases and are getting saved!!
And other times you go on the streets just to bless maybe one guy by letting him tell you the story of his life! Or maybe just to feed one beloved child of God! Or just to simply hug someone!  That’s how my evening went, I spoke to three people and a group.  I was on a team with Denzel and Roger.
FIRST GUY = We spoke to a guy named Bruce who had a cane and sure enough he also had pain in his hip, but he didn’t want prayer, (I have heard of this where people want to keep their pain but I have never seen it in person, I was shocked).  Nevertheless, we respected his wants and simply talked with him.  We also got to bless him with chocolate that we got from Dollarama!
ABORTION CLINIC = Our team was with Lorraine’s team at the time and we totally demolished the works of the devil! Lorraine even anointed the door with oil!!
SECOND GUY = We went to city place where there was a fellow reading a book about time management, he didn’t want any prayer so we just blessed him with chocolate!
GROUP OF GUYS = On our way back to portage place, Roger approached a group of young people and asked if anyone wanted chocolate, they all agreed. So Roger answered questions from one guy on why on earth we were giving chocolate to people.  Meanwhile, Denzel and I spoke with his other friends. We were mostly talking about how when Muslims and Christians get along it is great.
THIRD PERSON = Our group was praying that God would bring someone to us! And God did!! He brought us someone named Sandra who seemed very depressed, Roger so generously went to buy her some chicken. As he was buying chicken, I sat down with Sandra on the planters and prayed with her for a home, food and that God would come and fill the deep gap in her heart, because I felt led to do so.
      Awesome night!
I have a favor to ask everyone who reads this report, would it be possible that everyone who can’t make it out on the streets on Thursdays pray for those of us that do go on the streets. Pray for protection, and pray for the salvation of everyone we meet!!!
Your prayers do a great deal of damage to the Kingdom of Darkness.
Erdman’s Report:

Our evening started slow so we decided to go to the Garden City food court where we met Emilia. She had gone shopping with a handicapped person whose name was Nick.  Emilia had her right-hand wrapped-up as she had pain in it so we asked to pray for her.  We prayed 2 times and she said the pain was less.

After that, we decided to go home, but as we were approaching the parking lot doors a young couple came out of Smitty’s.  The lady was limping so Adina asked her what was hurting her and how bad.  She said her little toe was infected and had she had gone to the ER that day. Adina asked her if we could pray for her and she said yes.  Adina then touched her toes and I prayed a simple prayer.  Adina then asked her how it feels now, and she says nothing – I don’t feel anything – the pain is gone. Adina asked her then if she knew who healed her, and she answered, “God”.  They were both smiling as she walked away without limping.
