Twenty-five Street Servants came out to minister this week.  Teams went to Health Sciences, Main Street, and Portage Place.
I started with a team of 4, but we quickly split into 2 teams, as there were a lot of people to pray for.  The highlight for me was praying for the homeless Joseph. He often asks for prayer, and then follows that with a request for a hand-out.  Last night he wanted prayer for pain in his abdomen.  He said he had to have his dialysis catheter replaced, because he had developed an infection, and he was in pain (you could see the bandages under his shirt).  Corny and I prayed, and his pain dropped, we prayed again and he said all the pain left.  What made this so special was that for the first time he never asked for a hand-out.  I think he was so relieved to be pain-free.  Instead, he introduced me to a friend, Bertram, who was in the city from Norway House, and that introduction resulted in us praying for him, and his friend Maureen who both also received relief from pain.

Iris’ Report:
While praying for Jocelyn in the food court at Portage Place, both Gaylene and I were drawn to two people (one was transgender in appearance) sitting at another table in the food court, and it felt as if God was highlighting them. But when we were done praying for Jocelyn and then Linda, they had left the food court. We continued walking around Portage Place, and Gaylene mentioned how there was power in consistency, with us being there every Thursday. We were happy to see Siwema who was meandering Portage Place with her son Noah in their pajamas, and we prayed and blessed them. As we were done, we looked up and saw the two people from the food court looking at a nearby kiosk! There was no beating around the bush this time, as we felt we were given another chance, and we walked up to them and said, ‘excuse me, would you like some prayer?’ They turned around as they had been walking away from us, and Eva and LeeLee immediately said yes, and asked for prayer for sobriety.  Gaylene shared about God’s grace in her life and her journey with sobriety, and Eva said that she was learning and was reading about grace lately. I shared Isaiah 30:19 with her: ‘When you cry for help, there will be grace and more grace’. They were both in a detox center and were 10 and 11 days sober. When I introduced myself to LeeLee, whose appearance was transgender, LeeLee said ‘we have met before, when you were handing out gloves and toques in the winter.’   I vaguely remembered meeting but would not have if she had not said it. It reminded me of Gaylene’s words that there is power in consistency and that the kindness of handing out gloves in the winter opened their heart to receive from us yesterday.  We told them that we would be there next Thurs and Eva said that LeeLee had told her there were people in the food court that pray for people. Amazing that she knew that, after one interaction with us handing out gloves and toques.  They said that they would be back next Thursday for prayer.

Diana’s Report:
Five of us started out on Main Street and we were able to pray for several people.  Julie wanted prayer for strength as she had just ended a 4-year abusive relationship.  When I gave her a hug she just hung on and let me pray for more blessing and healing into her.  When we were driving to Portage Place I saw a woman just standing on the corner of the street as we were at a red light. The Holy Spirit directed me to give her $20, so I called her over and told her that the Lord loves her and sees her and wants to bless her.  She said, ” How did you know that?”.  I told her that the Lord told me and that He wanted to touch her life.  She was visibly moved, surprised and wiping away tears as we drove away from that very brief but Spirit lead encounter. I also heard a word about a right ankle so when I saw a woman limping in the mall, I asked her if she had pain in her right ankle. She said yes, she had a prosthetic foot and her ankle was in pain.  I told her that the Lord told me I would encounter a person who needed healing in the right ankle and could I pray for her.  She promptly said, “no, she didn’t believe in that stuff”, and then she took off limping.  We prayed for her after she left us that the seed of that encounter would grow and her heart of stone would become soft to the Lord.

Ron & Donna’s Report:
As we walked through Portage Place Mall we saw several KH2O teams engaged in Kingdom Activities! We prayed for Celine from Rwanda.  She is an international student who has been in Canada since July.  She wanted us to pray for peace and happiness for herself and her family back home. Next, we met Lynn on the corner of Carlton and Portage Avenue. As we passed her she asked us for change and as Ron dug through his wallet we asked for her prayer request which she said was “well being”. As we prayed she bowed her head and with many people looking on she said, “thank you” with sincere gratefulness.

Jeremiah’s Report:
It’s funny when you pray for someone and they get healed and you can’t tell because they don’t react. In other words, people are so dumbfounded that they don’t know what to say or do!
That’s what happened when Alex prayed for Ron,  who had arthritis in his knees.
After Ron received healing, I asked him to test it out. Before we prayed, he said he had 19 out of 10 pain in his knees. After prayer, 2 out of 10 pain!  At Zion we asked God for a word of knowledge and God told me “blue hat”. Can you guess what Ron was wearing? A blue hat!
We came across Oliver who I met before. He looked very sad. Alex and I encouraged and prayed for Oliver and talked for a while. Alex even bought him some food (Oliver did not ask for food). You could see the difference on his face was night and day. He really needed some encouragement.  He told us that he knew we prayed for people in the mall, and he was hoping someone would come and pray for him.

Andy’s Report:
I bounced around from team to team.  Jeremiah and I met a couple grieving their friend who had just passed away. We prayed for God’s peace and love to be shown to them, then shared God’s love through the cross. Both Jesuina and Leroy accepted Jesus as their Saviour.  They were going to go to the church in their community and Jeremiah gave them both the gospel of John.
